Join us for two days of policy and social innovation events

 
 

The University of Illinois Springfield Center for State Policy and Leadership, the Institute of Government and Public Affairs and the Illinois Innovation Network invite you to two days of presentations, discussion and networking around policy and social innovation. 

A policy summit hosted by CSPL and IGPA will be held on the UIS campus on Tuesday, April 23, CSPL's Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame Reception will be held in downtown Springfield on April 23, and a Social Innovation Workshop co-hosted by the IIN and CSPL will be on Wednesday, April 24, on the UIS campus.

UIS Student Union Ballroom

Co-hosted by CSPL and IGPA, the Policy Summit will explore a variety of topics related to public policy. State Senator Doris Turner and State Representative Mike Coffey will join us for a panel discussion, followed by breakout sessions across five tracks. Topics for the tracks are education, learning, and family well-being; equity, justice, and human flourishing; fiscal and economic policy; substance abuse and mental health; and the Center for Urban and Rural Environmental Sustainability (CURES). Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided. Lunch will feature a keynote address from Heidi Mueller, Director of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.


Center for Urban & Rural Environmental Sustainability (CURES) Sessions:
Individuals interested in attending the sessions sponsored by the Center for Urban & Rural Environmentally Sustainability should register using the link below. The CURES sessions will focus on water, energy, and sustainability projects for local communities (see Track 5 on the Policy Summit program). CURES attendees are also welcome to attend the breakfast, panel discussion, and lunch.

Co-hosted by the Illinois Innovation Network and CSPL, this workshop invites you to explore design thinking and systems thinking principles and strategies for problem solving. Potential topics include social justice, community engagement, health initiatives, capacity building and community of practice.
